1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convection's of real media products?
My media product differs between the codes and convection's rules. Some of the ideas of the magazine have come from the codes and convection's whereas some of them I had to go against because I didn't feel like they went well or looked good in my magazine. I used the way of how the front covers and contents pages are set out because they show what magazines are supposed to look like without changing big features.

I had to against some of the rules because of different reasons. One reason would have to be that it doesn't fit in with the magazine as there wasn't as much room because the main image would take up the room so I couldn't put as many cover lines around otherwise they would be on top of the main image and not many magazines do have them on top as you cant see the images aswell. I have used three images on the front cover which is against the codes and convection's as it makes the front cover look too full and cramped together. I kept it though because it will make the magazine more entertaining to read and more attractive to the target audience. Some magazines do have more than one image on their front cover

I recorded 2 people and asked them whether they liked the writing on top of the images or not and these are the results: Out of the results they both thought that writing not on top of the images are easier to read and clearer to see. Which is what ive done on mine.

I have kept some of the codes and convection's like the Title of the magazine being big and at the top of their magazine. Some magazines have their magazine on top of the magazines name but this means it’s harder to know what it’s called when they want to buy the next issue.

The cover lines are quite big and very clear. They show the audience what’s inside the magazine so they're more likely to buy it. Some magazines don't follow the rules and do over take the image. So some follow and some challenge the codes and convection's.

I had to keep changing the design of the magazine so that it fitted in with the other pop magazines. At the end I ended up with a total different design than my drawn one at the beginning because little details got changed in my magazine. The changes were things that the real magazines wouldn’t have because they didn’t fit in with the genre POP, they didn’t appeal to the target audience or they didn’t go with the magazine very well.

What i have kept the same throughout

o Background colour
o Title
o CD in the title
o Website on the right and underneath the title
o Microphone in each main image

What i have kept the same throughout

o Same font for signature

o Ipod stayed in same place

o Concert picture stayed on each one

o Contact details stayed the same

o Images for the contact details stayed the same

What i have kept the same throughout

o Two of the same images
o "And i know i come across as the girl who cares about my bags and the shoes i wear but im for real!" quote is always on there
o Editors name

3. What kind of music institution might distribute your media product and why?

Here are a few magazines they work with:

Here's what IPC Media does on their website:

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
My target audience are mostly females and some males of the age of 12-16 years old though some younger children may also be interested in the magazine as they are fascinated in the lives of the celebrities. This is my audience age group because they are more likely to buy magazines and are more into the pop genre. The pop genre includes celebrities that are new and have got the latest songs or films out so more children that listen to this type of music will know who they are and what to read about them. The celebs are role models to this age range which is why they're more like to buy the magazine.

This is an example of someone from my target group:

5. How did you attract/address the audience?

These are the attractions of my magazine:

Someone from my target audience:

This is an example of the questionnaires that i gave out to ask them their opinion on mine and a professional magazine: This is an example of one of the results that i got back.

The results:

6. What have you learnt about technology from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt new software called Quark Express. I had to use it to create my contents page and my double page spread. I learnt how to use all the new tools to create my pages more creational and professional.
I have also learnt more on Photoshop. I have used it before but needed to know abit more as everything had to be done from scratch. I created my front cover using Photoshop.

I couldn’t use any images of the internet so everything had to be taken from scratch by using a camera. I needed to know all the buttons and effects of the camera. It took me a while to learn them as it was a new camera that I had never used before.

7. Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progress from it to the main product?

Monday 12 April 2010

Task seventeen ( music )

I have now got all the results to the questionnaires and have tallied them up so i could put them into graphs. This is to show in more detail what people thought about my products in full detail. I have also gave a conclusion to give more details and what each one could mean.

The program that i used made the text not noticeable so you must click the pie charts to be able to see it.

10. What do you think I could have improved on?

Conclusion: The two highest ratings from the audience are 8 and 9 and I never got lower than 7 once again which is good because it shows that the contents page was useful and good meaning that more people are more likely to buy it. Overall the score was 41 out of 50 which is more than three quarters.

Triple page spread

15. What do you like about my triple page spread?

Conclusion: The audience thought that the background behind the images made the triple page spread look the best and more attractive. This means that it was more attractively effective. The other factors are all about what they look like which means that the appearance is the most looked at and cared about factor.

16. What do you dislike?

21. What would you rate my triple page spread out of 10?

Conclusion: The highest rating from the audience was 8 which is very good because it is a high rating and shows that It has been doing well and I never got lower than the 8 which is good because it shows that the contents page was the best, useful and that there wasn’t many improvements needed as they found it quite good already. Overall the score was 41 out of 50 which is more than three quarters.

Most of my results could have more than 5 answers because some gave more than one opinion for the question which I made sure I also noted because it gives more explanation and help on what I could do better and what I done well. The front cover got the best score as it got an overall 42 out of 50 though the contents page and triple page spread was only one mark behind.

Altogether

22. Out of 10 what would you rate my products altogether?

Conclusion: The highest rating from the audience was 9 which shown that my products were pretty good and were quite well made to get such a high rating. This also shows that people were interested in my magazine and were more likely to buy it. It has been doing well and I never got lower than 8 meaning that nobody thought as it as rubbish or not interesting that they wouldn’t want to read. Overall the score was 43 out of 50 which is more than three quarters.

23. Out of 10 what would you rate my products altogether?

Conclusion: My effort got quite high ratings which is good because it is telling me that people thought I had put a lot of thought into the product to make it the way it is. If they think that I have put a lot of effort into it then they could think that they could tell through the products. The highest rating from the audience was 10 which is very good because it is the highest rating which shows that it got full marks making it look good. I never got lower than the 9 which is good as it’s the second highest rating that I could have got. Overall the score was 47 out of 50 which is three marks off the highest score.

Triple page spread:

Conclusion: On the triple page spread people thought that the why it was laid out and the appearance were also what made it look the best and what made it look more effective. These should be looked at more on the contents page because they keep coming up which means that it’s important to the audience.
